WATCH: Marsha Muller clocks 263km in 48 hour Running World Champs

Richards Bay ultra-runner clocks 263km in 48-hour Running World Championships in Milan, Italy despite freezing conditions and some setbacks

PUTTING the ‘mind over matter’ mantra firmly to the test over the weekend, Richards Bay ultra-runner Marsha ‘The Machine’ Muller clocked up an impressive 263km at the 48-hour Running World Championships despite setbacks.

Arriving at her destination in Cinisello, Milan minus her bag which went missing en route, Marsha was without much of her race gear, including her shoes.

Despite being given a pair, which meant she would run for 48 hours in shoes she had not worn-in, Marsha was the 16th lady over the finish line at 1pm local time on Sunday.

Missing bag setback aside, Marsha once again did Zululand proud as she represented South Africa with her usual vigour and enthusiasm.

“It was a toughie, but so worth it. I’m just grateful I don’t have to go through another freezing night!” said Marsha, speaking to the Zululand Observer on Sunday afternoon.
