Zululanders experience cold, wet winter weekend as heavy rain drenches parts of the region, with some areas measuring 90mm

Zululanders experienced a cold, wet winter weekend as heavy rain soaked parts of the region on Saturday night.

Residents took to the Zululand Observer’s Facebook page to share their rainfall figures.

One resident measured 90mm in Veldenvlei, while Ntongande in Mzingazi recorded 78mm of rain, seemingly the two hardest-hit areas in the City of uMhlathuze.

Empangeni was next hardest hit, with Brian Robertson reporting 75mm, while Simon Harvey’s rain gauge captured 72mm.

Wildenweide resident Bettie Jooste recorded 70mm, with the same amount in Nyala Park, Empangeni.

Felixton residents reported receiving around 50mm, with 43mm captured in Mtunzini, 52mm in eNseleni, 46mm in Arboretum and just 22mm in Meerensee.
