Multiple victims perish as taxi and truck collide on N2 near Mtubatuba

N a horrific accident on the N2 north this morning (Sunday), 11 people tragically lost their lives when a Quantum minibus collided with a truck and caught fire.


Ten of the victims were reportedly trapped in the burning taxi, while a further 9 sustained critical burn and injury wounds and were hospitalised.

According to authorities the vehicle with 20 occupants was travelling from Empangeni to Hluhluwe and the crash occurred at around 4am near Nkwiliza Bridge.

The N2 is closed near Bridge J


The N2 is closed before Bridge J and motorists are asked to use alternate routes as recovery teams are on scene.
