MEC alarmed at non-payment of salaries In Zululand District
MEC Buthelezi directs an investigation into the cause of the non-payment of salaries at Zululand Municipality
KZN Cogta MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi has expressed concern in response to reports that employees at Zululand District Municipality did not receive their September salaries.
Buthelezi said in the absence of a formal communication from the municipality, he has directed his department head, Scelo Duma, to immediately investigate the cause of the non-payment of salaries, implement remedial measures for salaries to be paid within 48 hours, and enforce consequence management against officials who are responsible for this financial misconduct.
“We will not tolerate any municipality that does not respect the rights of workers, we will act without fear or favour,” said Buthelezi.
