Man drowns in Richards Bay
Richards Bay man drowns at Bay Hall area on Sunday morning despite extensive resuscitation efforts by emergency services
SUNDAY morning started off on a tragic note when a man sadly drowned in Richards Bay.
All authorities were alerted to a drowning in progress at about 6.45am at the Bay Hall area.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) duty crew, SAPS, Police Search & Rescue, uMhlathuze Fire & Rescue and MedCare 24 paramedics responded to the call, while uMhlathuze lifeguards, coming on duty for the day, also responded.

The victim, believed to be a local man (28), had been recovered from the water by bystanders.
Despite extensive resuscitation efforts by emergency services, the man was declared deceased by paramedics.
The body was taken into the care of the SAPS and KZN Department of Health Forensic Pathology Services, and the police have opened an inquest docket.
