Formula 1 to begin revving up engines

The first two races will take place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on the weekends of 3-5 July and 10-12 July

LATEST news from the racing track has revved up F1 fans as F1 chief executive, Chase Carey, outlined the first part of a revised calendar after racing was put on ice owing to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The first eight race dates have been set in stone, but will operate under the strictest safety procedures possible to ensure optimal safety for all parties involved.

Racing gets under way in Austria next month, which will be the first of eight scheduled races.

The first two races will take place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria (3-5 July and 10-12 July), followed by the Hungarian Grand Prix from 17-19 July.

This will be followed by two back-to-back races at Silverstone, before the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, the Belgian Grand Prix and then the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

All the races will be supported by Formula 2 and Formula 3.

F1 will be finalising the details of the wider calendar and hopes to publish that in the coming weeks, with the expectation of having a total of 15 to 18 races before the season concludes in December.

These races will be closed events, until fans are given the green light by their respective governments to attend.

With health and safety a priority, Formula 1 and the FIA have a robust and detailed plan to ensure the highest level of safety and strict procedures are in place.
