Hospice week highlights success
The activities of this week seek to recognise, share and celebrate the achievements of hospice and palliative care programmes.

THE role of partnerships in providing support and care for people with life-threatening illnesses is being highlighted this week as the world celebrates World Hospice Week from 1 – 8 May.
The activities of this week seek to recognise, share and celebrate the achievements of hospice and palliative care programmes.
Hospice Week also highlights the importance of an effective partnership between family members, carers, service providers, funders, government departments and other stakeholders as vital to the provision of quality care.
Hospice is a movement represented across the globe that believes every person with a life threatening condition has the right to quality of life and dignity in death.
Zululand Hospice
Since 1991, Zululand Hospice has been committed to serving the uMhlathuze region by providing specialised palliative care for patients with progressive disease as well as bereavement support for their families.
Funding the work is a challenge as the government does not fund hospices and most patients do not have medical insurance.
If you would like to learn more about the Zululand Hospice Association and the work they do in the community, contact PRO Tatum Bristow on 035 772 4910 or email fundraiser@zululandhospice.org.za.
