Five ways to make your family more eco-friendly
Encouraging your children to adopt green habits is easy! Here are five easy steps to going green in just one weekend.

1. Go through your child’s closet and see what you can do to update what your child already has. You not only save money by consuming less, but you also assist to eliminate trash. For example, you may sew sequins onto last year’s denim jacket or cut a high neckline off a t-shirt to give it an edgy vibe.
2. Create cost-effective eco-friendly cleaning products with ordinary household components to give your home a healthy green clean. Recipes for eco-friendly cleaning products can be found all over the Internet. Our favourite kitchen cleaning superheroes? Baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice. These kitchen staples boast proven virus-killing abilities that also effectively clean, deodorise, brighten, and cut through grease and grime.
3. Fill up your car, have your tyres inflated, and see when your vehicle is due for a service. When cars are serviced and tyres are correctly inflated, they are the most fuel-efficient and eco-friendly.
4. Are you concerned about crime? Plant a tree in your garden. Trees not only absorb carbon dioxide and assist to combat global warming, but they also lower stress, vandalism, and crime in metropolitan areas, according to studies.
5. Have fun with paper mache. It’s a fantastic method to recycle and turn trash into art. This is a great rainy day activity if you have kids! You and the kids can make your own paper mache for newspaper crafting at home. All you need is 1 cup flour and 2 cups water!
Here’s how to make it:
- Mix one part flour, with two parts water.
- Pour the water in gradually and keep stirring.
- Remove as many lumps as possible.
- Pop into the microwave at full blast for 30-40 seconds (remember microwaves do vary, so add it for less if need be).
- Remove and give it a good stir.
- Return into the microwave for another 30-40 seconds.
- Repeat this up to four times (depending on the microwave) until you start seeing the mixture thickening.
- Remove the flour mixture and give it a good stir.
- Let cool a little and you are ready to use your mixture.
