Celebrating Ramadan through good deeds

This is the time when Muslims are encouraged to give to charity, strengthen their relationship with God and show kindness and patience.

Kwa-Thema – As the Muslim community embarks on commemorating the holiest month on their calendar, Ramadan, NPO Al-Atfaal will be donating over 60 food hampers to the Muslim community.
Ramadan is the Arabic name for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar.
It is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.
It’s also one of the five pillars of Islam.

These are five principles that Muslims believe are compulsory acts ordered by God.
This is the time when Muslims are encouraged to give to charity, strengthen their relationship with God and show kindness and patience.
NPO founder Fatimah Khoele Mokaba said this is a month where every good deed is multiplied.
“Ramadan is our holy month as Muslims and is a month full of blessings and sharing.
“This month symbolises kindness, peace and calmness.
“We focus on prayer and giving glory to the Lord,” said Mokaba.

The first and last dates of Ramadan are determined by the lunar Islamic calendar and last for 29 to 30 days.
The Muslim community will commence with the celebrations of Ramadan from April 13 in the evening until May 12 in the evening.
