Sparrow FA dominates Lucky Stars 9-2 in football showdown

Sparrow FA defeated the Lucky Stars 9-2 in a recent Spring Local Football Association match at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex, with both teams reflecting on teamwork and strategy.

Kwa-Thema – A thrilling game between the Lucky Stars and Sparrow FA in the Spring Local Football Association recently took place at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex.

Sparrow FA won 9-2.

The game started with both teams playing cautiously, but Sparrow FA showed dominance and scored its first goal minutes into the game, putting pressure on its opponents.

Lucky Stars player number 10, Bandile Sikhakhane, described the game as demotivating and embarrassing.

Both teams are determination to win.
“When the game started, we were fine and determined to win. Our opponent’s first goal, a few minutes into the match, demotivated and distracted us. From then on, we lost position, played independently and did not make strategic moves,” explained Sikhakhane.

“As a team, we lacked communication skills. We tried to rectify that in the second half, and as a result, we scored two goals. We maintained form and tried to remember our positions in the game.”

Each team wants to win.

He said their biggest obstacle as a team is stubbornness, as other teammates do not want to take guidance from others.

Sikhakhane said they would like their coach to motivate and unite them, so they can better know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

“We live in different areas as players, and hardly see each other or know one another. Sometimes we practice together, and sometimes we don’t; that causes a drift and a gap during games. All we need is unity and a present coach,” he added.

The game ended 2-9 to parrow FA.

Their coach, Sidwell Chiloane, was grateful and excited to win, saying he was unhappy in the first half because they had chances to score over six goals.

“Our mistakes were in the backline. We allowed our opponents to score two goals, a clumsy mistake. I motivated my players to be faster in the second half, especially when attacking.

“We did just that and, as a result, scored an overall of nine goals. Although we could have scored more, I am happy we won,” he said.

He said he would instil the need to use scoring opportunities, saying they always create chances but never use them correctly.

He emphasised that his team could have scored over 18 goals in this game, but failed to use the chances they created.

“Going forward, we aim to remain consistent, win almost all our games and do better,” he concluded.
