A good start for KwaThema Cricket Club
KwaThema Cricket Club Promotion side started off the year on a good note with a solid win against top of log Kempton Park at Olympia Park grounds on Sunday.
Team captain Itumeleng Ntsoane lost the toss and his team was put in to bat first. The team was in early trouble as it lost three wickets in the first over of the match with Robert Mitch being the destroyer.
The team managed to recover quite well in seemingly difficult batting conditions to score 160-9 in 50 overs with top knocks from Anele Mbalane and Nkosana Mgoqo scoring 43 and 30 respectively.
In the field KwaThema produced its best fielding display this season taking great catches and superb ground fielding supporting its bowlers well.
Kempton felt the pressure and only managed to score 105 all out with top bowling displays from Xolane Shongwe 3-47 in 10 overs, Bandile Sithole 3-9 in 7 overs and Thabiso Msipha 2-15 in 5 overs, KwaThema winning the game by 56 runs.
The team will take on second-placed United at St Dunstans grounds in Benoni at 9.30am on Sunday.
