Ayoba/Movers are the champs

The Ayoba/Movers will start the SAB Regional League with smiles written on their faces after winning the Ekurhuleni Off-Season Tournament.

Sixteen teams fought to be crowned the champions of the 2102 Ekurhuleni Off-Season Tournament on the senior teams’ category during December.

Ayoba’s victory came after playing and winning against the toughest teams around Ekurhuleni. Before taking home the floating trophy, Ayoba/Movers played 16 games.

The quarter final game was against Tsakane’s Bolivia and Ayoba won by 3-1.

1-0 was an overall score for the semi final game that they played against Izinyoka. To show their eagerness to win the tournament, Ayoba/ Movers played at its best level during the final game against the Qwaqwa Stars and scored all its three goals within 20 minutes during the first half of the game, beating its opponents by 3-0.

Ayoba-Yo Youth Soccer Academy technical director Innocent Mayoyo says he prides himself on the good football that his boys played during the tournament.

He says despite Ayoba/Movers being the only team that had four of the youngest players on the field, his boys showed the community of Ekurhuleni that dedication is one of the ingredients of success. He says the team is proud to lift high the trophy as they believe that it is the start of bringing back KwaThema’s dignity in soccer.

Mayoyo appeals for the community’s support when the team will be playing its SAB Regional League game against Izinyoka tomorrow at KwaThema’s Extension 2 Legacy Ground at 3pm.
