Learner holds Brackenhurst Primary name high in Commonwealth

Eden Lake, a learner at Bracken Primary, placed 33rd at the Commonwealth Chess Championship.

Ethan Lake, a learner at Brackenhurst Primary School, took part in the u-12 division of the 2019 Commonwealth Chess Championship held in Delhi, India.

To qualify Ethan took part in the Wild Card Open Chess Tournament where he placed second and was invited to the Closed Tournament where he scored four and a half out of nine. These placings ranked him eighth in the u-12 group.

He was then invited to take part in the Commonwealth tournament.

Eden won two games and drew two games in his set of seven games.

In total he placed 33rd in the tournament, a considerable achievement considering this was against the best players from all Commonwealth countries.
