Locals reach out for a good cause

Albermale residents Tina Avenant and her daughter, Burnice Loggenberg, donated clothes and shoes to Kasie Outreach on February 4.

Kasie Outreach, a faith-based community outreach programme that reaches out to impoverished residents of informal settlements, received a stack of pre-loved clothes from the pair.

According to Avenant, they collectively gathered clothes with the intent to assist needy communities during this time.

“We thought it was important to hand over these donations as some people have lost their jobs during this time, while most are unemployed. It was crucial, especially since winter is fast approaching. We donated warm clothing and a few shoes to get people going,” she said.

These donations will be handed over to a few families in Tsakani informal settlements.

To date, hundreds of people have been assisted through the outreach programme in most underprivileged parts of Ekurhuleni.

Simphiwe Malunga of Kasie Outreach gladly welcomed the generous donation made by the pair.

For queries or any donations, Kasie Outreach may be found on Facebook @Kasie Outreach, alternatively, by contacting 062 037 7161.

During the handover were Tina Avenant, Simphiwe Malunga (Kasie Outreach) and Burnice Loggenberg.
