Water supply disruptions brought on by load-shedding
The City of Ekurhuleni apologises to residents about the water interruptions experienced by some parts of the city due to ongoing load shedding.

The City of Ekurhuleni notifies residents about the water supply interruption caused by the ongoing load-shedding.
Water levels have decreased and, in some cases, depleted due to the current circumstances, which has caused inconsistent operation of water pump stations.
According to Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, residents of high-lying locations are particularly impacted because their water pressure depends on water towers fed by electricity-powered pumps from reservoirs.
“Water pump stations are equipped with emergency power generators that cease to operate in case of a prolonged outage. Water towers that have pump stations without emergency generators experience quicker depletion of water, resulting in dropped pressure and ultimately no water,” said Zweli.
Palmridge, Vosloorus and Dawn Park are regions with no water or low water pressure because of recurrent power outages.
The city urges residents to save water, keep taps always closed, and store water for household use in the event of extended power outages.
