An elderly woman was attacked by four men in her Brackendowns home
The four suspects forced their way into the woman’s home.
An unidentified elderly woman living in Brackendowns was attacked by four men during what is suspected to be a house robbery.
The attack happened during the early hours of January 3.
It is believed that the suspects forced their way into the woman’s home. When neighbours heard noise coming from the property they came to the elderly woman’s rescue.
The suspects fled. However, residents managed to apprehend one of them.
Brackendowns SAPS was called to the scene and the suspect was handed over to authorities. The elderly lady is said to have sustained serious injuries during the attack.

According to Statistics South Africa (StatsSA), home robbery ranks as the second most common crime affecting South African households, with 209 000 households impacted in the 2023/24 period.
An estimated 263 000 incidents were reported said StatsSA. In a separate crime incident, a suspect was arrested after allegedly stealing a gate motor from a residential property in Alberton North.
The suspect’s accomplice escaped leaving his partner in crime facing law enforcement and security officers. The suspect was transported to the Alberton Police Station where he was charged.
Local police and security officers have noticed an increase in gate motor theft during the festive season, with criminals suspected to be stealing these motors in the early hours of the morning. Residents and business premises are urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
