Man dies after alleged beating by Kliprivier plot owner in theft incident

Kliprivier SAPS warns public to avoid mob justice.

A man found stealing a cable on a plot in Kliprivier passed away after the plot owner allegedly beat him to death on September 16.

It’s alleged two men were caught stealing a cable. Security guards who handed them over to the owner of the plot arrested them.

It is alleged that the owner took the two men from the security guards and drove off with them, where he assaulted them with a hammer and copper cable and dropped them off in an open field in Kliprivier.

One suspect noticed that his partner was no longer responding. He then hiked to Kliprivier SAPS to ask for assistance.

A case of murder was registered after the police visited the scene. The police warned community members not to take the law into their own hands.
