Brackendowns SAPS, CPF nab suspects after high-speed chase on Swartkoppies Road
Team effort leads to arrest of two men, recovery of stolen gas bottles, burglary tools, firearm, and false number plate.
Members from Brackendowns SAPS and CPF were patrolling on Swartkoppies Road when officers attempted to pull over a grey Kia Cerato.
After they switched on their blue lights, the driver immediately began driving recklessly, slamming on brakes and changing lanes to avoid being stopped. However, teamwork prevented the car from escaping.
After boxing in the Kia, the driver and one passenger jumped out and ran in opposite directions. The second passenger tried to exit through the driver’s door, but two officers arrested him.

Two CPF members pursued the fleeing men on foot and apprehended one, the driver, and returned him to the vehicle.
After a thorough search in the presence of the two criminals, officers found these items in the Kia:
• Six full gas bottles from BP (still sealed);
• House and business burglary implements;
• One silver 9mm pistol;
• One false registration plate.
Upon investigation, the team located the BP petrol station from which the criminals had stolen the gas bottles just 30 minutes before the arrests. Officers opened a case of theft and returned the gas bottles to the petrol station in Alrode.

The two face charges of possession of stolen property, house and business break-in implements and a dangerous weapon, reckless and negligent driving and resisting arrest.
The team effort involved SAPS Sergeants R Venter and T Shetlele (SAPS), and CPF members Jordan Feenstra and Justin Joubert.
