13 of 17 delivery drivers arrested in Brackendowns operation for being undocumented

A multi-agency operation in Brackendowns impounded 17 scooters, issued fines for unroadworthy vehicles, and arrested 13 undocumented individuals.

A joint operation in Brackendowns saw multiple law enforcement agencies and security partners collaborate to target delivery drivers using unroadworthy or unregistered motorbikes and scooters on September 26.

The operation, involving the Brackendowns SAPS, the EMPD, the Department of Home Affairs, the local and Alberton CPFs and Fox, CPS and Sentinel security firms, yielded significant results.

Officers are briefed before the operation.

Members impounded 17 scooters and motorbikes, fined drivers with unroadworthy vehicles, and arrested 13 people for being undocumented.

The Brackendowns SAPS station commander, Colonel Jacoline van der Westhuizen, spoke about the operation.

“The successful operation resulted in the removal of unroadworthy vehicles. We bring the undocumented people to task because they are working in SA illegally,” said the colonel.

The collaborating agencies emphasised their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring safer communities.
