High-speed chase in Brackenhurst ends with stolen car recovered

FOX Security and JMPD tactical units track hijacked vehicle linked to multiple crimes; suspects flee on foot after abandoning car in South Hills

A high-speed chase unfolded in Brackenhurst and ended with the recovery of a stolen Audi on October 31.

The vehicle, previously linked to crimes in the area and using false number plates, was tracked by FOX Security tactical units and the JMPD Tactical Reaction Unit via CCTV.

The pursuit began after the vehicle was seen on Hennie Alberts and Swartkoppies roads, shortly after another crime happened in Brackenhurst.

The chase continued on Swartkoppies Road, onto the R59 and into South Hills, where the criminals abandoned the Audi and fled on foot.

Investigations confirmed that the car was hijacked in Alberton in October, and the false plates linked it to two other Brackendowns SAPS cases.

Authorities recovered the Audi, gloves and the false registration plates.

The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to link the suspects to additional crimes in the area.

“The vehicle was recovered and there will be an ongoing investigation regarding the suspects,” said Donavan du Toit, FOX Security officer.
