WATCH: Alberton murder-accused couple: Officer claims Bekker pointed out dump site
The Alberton SAPS sergeant says Bekker revealed where her mother’s body was dumped, a statement she later denied.
Alberton murder-accused duo, Werner Jack Schoeman and Delichia Bekker, returned to the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on November 24.
They are accused of involvement in the murder of Susan Gillian Murray, who lived in Verwoerdpark at the time of her death.
She was found dumped in Alberton North in November 2023. Schoeman and Bekker face charges including murder, fraud, and theft.
Bekker, Murray’s daughter, is accused of involvement in her mother’s death and was arrested days before Schoeman, who was caught hiding in South Hills.

SAPS sergeant takes the stand:
A police sergeant at Alberton SAPS took the witness stand at the November 24 hearing. He testified about how the murder case ended up on his radar.
“On November 23, 2023, I was on duty and received a call from the late Warrant Officer Brandt, who told me about a lady at the Germiston Hospital I needed to take in for questioning. That lady was Delichia Bekker (Accused two),” said the sergeant.
He added that he had spoken to the doctor who had examined Bekker’s suitability for police questioning. The doctor determined that Bekker was fit to undergo police questioning.
The sergeant and a colleague drove with Bekker in an unmarked private police vehicle to the Alberton SAPS, where she would be questioned about what she knew about Murray’s murder.
“While on our way to the police station, we drove through Radio Road in Alberton, and there is veld on the right-hand side of the road. As we drove past the veld, Delichia told me that that was where her mom’s body was dumped,” said the sergeant.
The prosecutor asked him why Delichia told him where her mother’s body was dumped.
“She just said it while we were driving. I was talking with my colleague about other cases we were supposed to attend to for the day, and out of nowhere, she said, ‘Here is where my mother’s body was dumped’,” added the sergeant.
The officers questioned Bekker about her comments.
The sergeant testified that Bekker said she knew the whereabouts of her mother’s body because her boyfriend had told her where it was.
The sergeant was, however, emphatic in telling the court that Bekker did not mention the name of the boyfriend. He also testified that Bekker had said the boyfriend had threatened her not to tell anyone about what she had been told.
The sergeant testified that he asked Bekker if she had shared this information with the police, to which she replied, ‘No’. He told Bekker that withholding such information could potentially have her charged as an accomplice to a murder. At the police station, the investigating officer (Brandt) was told about her comments.
Delichia denied telling the officers the whereabouts of her dead mother’s body. She also claimed that on the day the sergeant picked her up from the hospital for questioning, she had been on antidepressant medication.
The court postponed the case to November 25 for further witness testimony.
The Alberton Record understands that the State’s next witness is also a SAPS officer.
Schoeman and Bekker remain in custody.
