According Tryna Maritz, Crystal Park SAPS communications officer, the man was found by his employer in the veld opposite his complex, on Monday morning.
“The employer was planning to pick him up from his house when he found the doors to the house open and no one inside,” said Maritz.
The employer then drove off and, as he was driving out, he saw something strange in the bushes opposite the complex.
About 10m from the road, the man was found hanging from the tree, police personnel were then alerted.
An alleged argument that took place on Friday night may have led to the man disappearing on Saturday and Sunday.
“His son was searching for him at his home and found the doors open, but no sign of his father,” said Maritz.
Police members suspect the man may have committed suicide on Sunday; however, they are not sure why he may have done so.
An inquest docket has been opened and a post-mortem will be conducted soon, to determine the exact cause of death.
