You can help Lakefield baker get to New York

Baking enthusiast Bibi Fathima Sirkhot, of Lakefield, needs your vote to help her fulfil her dream of travelling to New York.

Sirkhot’s ‘Not your average chocolate cheese cake’ made it into the Lancewood Cake-Off Competition, which closes on June 10.

This year’s winner will win an all-expenses-paid trip, worth R150 000, to New York.

“Winning this competition will mean a lot to me as I’ve always dreamt of travelling to New York.”

Sirkhot is a self-taught baker who bakes from the heart.

She started baking while she was in primary school; her mother’s love for food sparked her baking passion.

In 2012, she was named Pantry Chef of the year by the South African Chefs Association in collaboration with Rhodes at the Mystery Box Challenge cook-off.

Sirkhot has a blog called CookingwithBibi, where she shares recipes and her latest culinary conquests.

She said for those wishing to recreate her recipe, they must visit www.lancewoodbakeoff.co.za and they will find the recipe.

“People who cast their votes for their favourite cakes will start a chance of winning a KitchenAid Mixer,” said Sirkhot.
