UPDATE: Dog-fight pup recovering well

Suspected incidents of dog fighting can be reported to Jungmann.

The male pit bull-cross rescued by The Animal Guardians (TAG) in Cloverdene on March 28 is regaining his strength and recovering well.

The pup was found abandoned in a veld with severe injuries consistent with dog fighting.

“He is just the most lovable boy and is thriving on all the love and attention,” said Annie Jungmann of TAG.

“He is gaining weight and is deemed strong enough to undergo surgery on his left eye. The cornea was damaged.”

Jungmann again called on the community of Chief Luthuli and Kingsway to come forward to expose a suspected dog fighting ring in the area.

“This boy is only one of many dogs we believe are being exploited by a syndicate organising these fights for personal gain,” she said.

“We implore the community to expose these individuals and in doing so save other innocent animals from suffering the same fate, or worse.”

Any information will be treated with confidentiality and will be shared with the SPCA, which has the legal authority to clamp down these practices.

Anyone with information may contact Jungmann on 076 330 5736.
