Operations will continue in an effort to stamp out crime.

Possession of drugs
Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested a 49 year-old man in Station Road, Brakpan, after he was found in possession of Mandrax.

Vehicles recovered
BFS members recovered two abandoned vehicles, both had been reported as hijacked.

A white Isuzu was recovered in Extension 3, Ivory Park. The hijacking was reported in the same area.

Further policing led to the recovery of a white Toyota Quantum in Inthethe Street, Daveyton. It was reportedly hijacked in Shoshanguve.

Rapid Response Services (RRS)
From April 26 to May 2, RRS members including Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol across the province arrested 129 suspects.

Through concentrated operations 41 suspects were arrested on charges of assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm, attempted murder, intimidation, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, attempted robbery, damage to property and reckless driving.

A total of 39 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered while 15 arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.

Ten unlicensed firearms were also recovered followed by 18 accompanying arrests.

Further policing led to 55 arrests on charges of being in possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated.

South African Police Service Gauteng Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS)
WPDS members responded to two incidents of suspected drowning on May 4 and 5.

The body of a woman was recovered in a dam in Sharpville while the body of a man was found floating in the river at Bez Valley Park, Jeppe.

Inquest dockets have been opened and both cases are currently under investigation.
