For many, life has become nothing more than an endless rush and the continuous din is slowly chiseling at people’s psyche, leaving them feeling overwhelmed.
The brand new single by Boksburg and Benoni-based Christian grunge rock band, Forfeit Thee Untrue (FTU), It’s Colder Now, is an anthem calling for righteous rebellion against spiritual warfare, which is triggering feelings of anxiety and depression.
What started out as a tribute song to American metal band, Demon Hunter, the single morphed into a call for the broken faithful to unite.
It’s Colder Now will drop on all major music platforms on December 6 and is described to be a call to arms for individuals battling mental health issues.
The single follows the band’s relaunch EP, Gather the Broken which was released in February.
Featuring four brand new tracks, the album theme centres around the sentiment of accepting our vulnerability but realising we are stronger in unity to overcome our demons.
Speaking of the lyrics, Westdene resident Craig Palmer (drums and percussion) said the primary line of the chorus speaks of life’s pressures which often leave us feeling broken and empty.
“Overwhelming feelings of anxiety can make us feel like we are being shattered into a million pieces,” said Palmer.

“However, this could also be the building blocks that are moulding us to become the person we were born to be, not just for ourselves but also for those who depend on us.”
He further explained that the chorus line ‘The flames to burn it down, the flames to lead us home,’ urges listeners to walk into a new dawn with courage while drawing on the lessons of yesterday.
“Past lessons can guide us though our darkest days, lead us home to the place where we find solace and peace but also to our eternal home,” he said.
“I once read that: ‘in the end everything will be okay. So if you are not okay, then this is not the end. Keep going.’ These words stuck with me and this song is inherent to that message.”
Lead vocalist and co-writer Kenji Swan of Pretoria said it feels like we are constantly faced with evil which threatens to consume our every thought.
“Music however is here to reassure us that its time is up,” said Swan.
“This single was written for every person who feels like they are going walking through the shadows of despair, it is a war cry proclaiming that spiritual destruction will no longer bloom in the gardens of our souls. Fear will flee, good wins while love, truth and freedom will prevail.
