Operations conducted by the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and Police Emergency Services (PES) from November 3 to 9 resulted in 82 arrests.
Vehicle recovery
• A stolen Big Boy motorcycle was recovered on Wooton Avenue on November 3.
Assisting a tracking company, BFS members found three suspects in possession of the bike which had been reported stolen in Boksburg North.
• A silver Hyundai i10 was recovered in Kempton Park. The vehicle was hijacked in Thembisa.
• A hijacked white Isuzu bakkie was found abandoned in Putfontein. It was taken in Olievenhoutbosch.
Possession of drugs
• A 35-year-old man was arrested in Thembisa on November 4 after being found in possession of cocaine.
• A 23-year-old man was arrested in Thembisa on November 8 for the possession of dagga and scheduled medication.
• Heroin was confiscated from a 35-year-old man in Kempton Park on November 9.
Police Emergency Services (PES)
The PES, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 76 suspects across Gauteng from October 31 to November 6.
The operation resulted in:
• 33 arrests for serious crimes, including common assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of stolen property, reckless and negligent driving, driving under the influence, robbery, theft, possession of a dangerous weapon, murder, contravention of the Immigration Act, and armed robbery.
• The recovery of 42 hijacked and stolen vehicles led to the arrest of 11 suspects found in possession of them.
• An unlicensed firearm was recovered.
• 32 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell. The drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax, and meth.
