From September 11 to 18, the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and Police Emergency Services (PES) made 110 arrests.
Housebreak-in
Two suspects, aged 29 and 35, were arrested in Sixth Street, Northmead, on September 15.
It is alleged that the duo had broken into the house and were caught loading household items onto a bakkie.
Possession of copper cabling
Patrolling BFS officers arrested the 40-year-old driver of a white Toyota Quantum, on Springs Road, Etwatwa, on September 16.
During a routine stop-and-search operation, officers found five bags containing copper cables in his possession.
Possession of drugs
A 47-year-old man was arrested in Brakpan when he was found in possession of Mandrax.
Vehicle recovery
A white Man XC90 truck and yellow trailer was traced to Alrode.
The vehicle had been reported as hijacked in Heidelberg.
Police Emergency Services (PES)
From September 11 to 17, the Police Emergency Services (PES), including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 106 suspects across Gauteng.
The operation resulted in:
• 42 arrests for serious crimes including assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, murder, attempted murder, reckless and negligent driving, contravention of a protection order, pointing of a firearm, tampering with essential infrastructure, rape, malicious damage to infrastructure, kidnapping, extortion, illegal possession of gold bearing material, housebreak-in and contravention of the immigration act.
• Recovery of 38 hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Seven arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.
• Six suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Four weapons were seized.
• 42 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
