Two nabbed with vehicle theft implements in Northmead
These arrests are hot on the heels of law enforcement interrupting suspected vehicle thieves at Northerns Sports grounds on June 7.
Thanks to the vigilance of on-site security at Northmead Mall, more members of a suspected vehicle theft syndicate were put behind bars on the morning of June 9.
According to the Benoni CPF, security personnel noticed the occupants of a white Kia acting suspiciously.
Information regarding the vehicle’s whereabouts was immediately circulated and officers of the Benoni SAPS, SAPS K9 unit as well as private security companies responded.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of signal jammers as well as various tools and equipment commonly used in vehicle theft and break-ins.
The successful operation highlights the value of strong co-operation between private security, vehicle tracking companies and law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
