Dear Numsa
Your strike action in Apex and surrounding areas yesterday and today has been nothing short of disgusting. You have disregarded both the rule of law and the constitution in the following areas:-
You have broken into private property, stolen private property, assaulted defenceless individuals, intimidated people who want to work, never mind the psychological impact of your actions.
The right to strike doesn’t mean the right to be a thug!
Whilst I respect your right to strike should you have discrepancies with your employers, non-striking workers also have rights.
I have never ever in my life seen such a lack of empathy.
This kind of behaviour is not acceptable.
Most companies in South Africa try to foster good working relationships with their employees.
However, Numsa insists on breaking those relationships down.
We are all crystal clear as to the plight of the poor.
However, this does not give you the right to steal, destroy, assault individuals and property as you have done so in the past two days.
I think Numsa as an organisation needs to do a lot of soul searching and decide whether this type of activity is relevant in a modern, democratic South Africa.
