On Thursday February 5 my niece was walking home from her school.
While she was in the vicinity of the Oakfields Shopping Centre a red Citi Golf pulled up beside her.
The two occupants were young white males, around the age of 19 or 20.
One of the men stepped out of the car, grabbed my niece by the arm and stole her tablet at gunpoint.
As she was still near the school, she went back there to report the crime.
I would like to thank CMS and the police for their response to the crime and for their support.
My brother was called to the school, where he was told that these losers had committed three similar crimes in the area.
My guess is that they are junkies, and that they steal to feed their pathetic habit.
To the residents who want to barricade their suburbs, please be aware that criminals live among you, so there is little point in closing off your suburb.
If you really want to make a difference, take some inspiration from our friends in the townships, who have their own methods for dealing with crime.
