Ball club is growing

Local ball club is growing fast.

The 2014/2015 junior baseball season is off to a great start with Benoni Northerns Indians Ball Club fielding three u-9 teams, three u-12 teams and one u-15 team.

This last weekend, all of the club’s teams played and the two u-9 teams, Chinook and Cherokee, won their games.

Chinook defeated Red Sox 22-18 and Cherokee beat Tomahawks 12-9.

The u-12 Cheyenne team beat Panorama 14-1 (with batting in hand), the u-12 Dakota team beat Cardinals 14-1, while the u-12 Apaches lost 14-13 to Cardinals.

The u-15 Mohawks beat Red Sox 17-8 (with batting in hand).

  • Meanwhile, the Indians have extended the club by starting a softball section.

With two sides already in the league (women’s and men’s social teams) the club is on the right track in growing this sport.

Both teams played at Red Sox in Kempton Park on Saturday and were defeated.

The women’s team lost 16-6 to Red Sox 2 and the men’s side lost 19-4.

Considering that neither team have played softball before, this is a major learning curve for the club.
