Northerns celebrate 2-1 home win against Edenvale

The Benoni Northerns football reserves and first team played against Edenvale, bringing home a draw and a win.

The Benoni Northerns first team are now lying in third in the Super League, while the reserves are lying second (at the time of this article) after recently playing Edenvale at Benoni Northerns Sport Club.

“It was a quality game, played at a high tempo with some good football from both sides,” said Benoni Northerns coach Enrique Juanas-Uriol.

“Edenvale is a much-improved team with a mixture of youth and experience. They went into half-time 1-0 up, but we came out strong in the second half.

“We started to pass the ball better, which led to a stunning equaliser.”

A rocket of a shot from just outside the box by new signing Lucky Nyathi brought joy to his teammates and spectators.

“A much better goal you don’t normally see. The winner came halfway through the second half, after more added pressure on the Edenvale defence.”
