Restore the beauty of your skin
Having flawless, smooth skin used to be a benefit women could enjoy in their youth. Thanks to the development of medical cosmetics this can now be maintained throughout the more mature years.
I was recently introduced to a luxurious form of skin rejuvenation on my hand and facial areas, at Breezology, medical beauty centre.
Dr Sharon Lion-Cachet, owner of the practice, at 48 Southy Road, in Farrarmere, performed a hand rejuvenation treatment on me, in which she made use of two products from Filorga, a French aesthetic cosmoceutical company.
These included NCTF 135 HA, which, she explained, is a cocktail of vitamins, co-enzymes, hyaluronic acid, amino acids and anti-oxidants, to provide the skin with all the requirements for it to be able to produce its own collagen and elastin.
The second product is MHA 10, a combination of hyaluronic acid and glycerol, which both address the hydration of the skin.
After applying numbing gel, she made a tiny hole in the area between the knuckles of my middle and ring fingers with a needle.
The needle was removed and a cannula was inserted with a blunt tip to inject the mixture into the hand.
She repeated the process with my other hand and gave both hands a gentle massage.
The fluid is then absorbed in the area and begins to work, after which the effect can last for months.
“We recommend three treatments; the first two a month apart and the third after one to two months,” Lion-Cachet said.
These can then be repeated as necessary.
This was a non-painful process, which she professionally explained throughout the procedure.
This was followed by an eight-step classic collagen facial treatment, from the QMS medicosmetics range, performed by beauty therapist Sade Mavimbela.
This facial was formulated to be an intense anti-ageing treatment, during which fine lines are reduced and the skin is restored to a firmer, younger-looking appearance. It is completed in 40 to 60 minutes.
The treatment focuses on providing collagen to the skin. Collagen is a part of the connective tissue in the skin that helps firmness and constant renewal of skin cells.
Mavimbela said the body stops producing collagen at the age of 25.
The procedure was performed as follows:
- Step one: The facial area is cleansed with a cream cleanser which, Mavimbela said, cleans and purifies the skin.
- Step two: An exfoliant fluid is applied, which speeds up the process of skin shedding, removes additional impurities and provides extra refinement.
- Step three: The skin is cleaned with dissolved bicarbonate.
- Step four: An algae mask is then applied and left on for five minutes. It cools the skin after exfoliation and can be used to analyse the skin condition once peeled off.
- Step five: A toner is applied to create a fresh feeling, cleanse the skin and prepare it for subsequent treatments.
- Step six: QMS collagen is applied and massaged into the skin.
- Step seven: This step is to enhance moisture within the skin; a plaster mask of bandage strips is applied over a layer of moisturiser. Cotton wool pads soaked in toner are applied over the eyes during the process.
- Step eight: After the set plaster modelage and the remnants are removed with a moist compress, a day collagen is applied, which helps to fight aging and defined lines.
Mavimbela concluded this relaxing treat with a neck and shoulder massage and applied sport active to my skin. This tinted cream can be used as a base and contains spf 15.
She applied a 24H Relax-o-firm mask, moisturising balance day and night cream, from the same range, after step six and during step seven, which made my skin feel delightfully silky smooth.
When I brushed my fingertips against my skin after the treatment I felt taken care of, pure and special, which I think is the fundamental purpose of female beauty.
The day was made an absolute pleasure by the fun company of Dr Lion Cachet, Mavimbela and receptionist Shannon Mallett.
Various other medical beauty treatments are on offer at Breezology, such as a Slender Wonder weight loss programme, chemical peels and Botox among others, as well as general beauty treatments.
