Load-shedding update: We’re back at stage 6

Eskom says while two units were returned to service, seven had to be taken offline.

Capacity constraints has wiped any hopes of lower load-shedding stages to kick off the week with Eskom announcing that stage 6 power cuts will be implemented from 16:00 this afternoon. Stage 4 coming into effect tomorrow during non-peak hours.

The power utility says seven units were taken offline for repairs with breakdowns currently at 17 955MW and planned maintenance causing a shortage of 5 042MW.

The current load-shedding outlook:

  • Stage 6: Monday 16:00 – Tuesday 05:00
  • Stage 4: Tuesday 05:00 – 16:00
  • Stage 6: Tuesday 16:00 – Wednesday 05:00
  • Stage 3: Wednesday 05:00 – 16:00
  • Stage 4: Wednesday 16:00 – midnight.
