Knitters need wool

MOTH Cottages residents are appealing to the community for donations of wool.

KNITTERS and crocheters at Bartle Road MOTH Cottages are appealing to the community to help with donations of wool.

The women have been knitting for the elderly at MOTHWA Haven, Che Guevara Road, for the babies assisted through the Robin Hood Foundation at the various local hospitals and others in need, for many years.

“We knit blankets for the elderly who sit all day, and whose legs get cold, and scarves for children going to school in the cold. Each of the knitters has a specific focus, be it children or frail old age pensioners, and we each have a particular need when it comes to wool,” said Patsy Hart.

Patsy said she used crochet needles from small to large to make blankets for the elderly and would appreciate donations of any bright wool to make this a reality.

Thelma van Wyk and Louisa Hitchcock said they needed soft wool to make items for babies, and would love double knit in any baby wool or colour.

Another knitter likes to knit scarves and bed socks and said she would like double knit and four ply to make these for the elderly and children who she knits for.

If anyone can help, contact Louisa on 084 777 7667.
