Bumper family fun at Glenwood festival
The Glenwood Community Festival from 8 to 11 September will bring a hive of fun, family activitie to the neighbourhood.

THE Glenwood community is in for a bustling weekend of participative, fun family activities at the annual Glenwood Community Festival from Thursday, 8 until Sunday, 11 September.
The Glenwood Community Forum hosts the annual event, a highlight on the community calandar, with its official opening on Thursday evening at 5.30pm and a showcase of more than 100 works of art and photographs from participating local Glenwood schools which will be on display at Glenwood High School, in an exhibition curated by Sarie de Beer and Ian Schoeman. The work can be viewed throughout the weekend.
On Friday evening at 6pm you can enjoy the sounds of the Schools’ Choir Festival at Durban Girls’ High School. The choral showcase features choirs from Eden College, Glenwood High School, Glenwood Prep, Manor Gardens Primary School and Penzance Primary School. Tickets cost R20 per person and can be bought from the participating schools. Refreshments will be on sale. Proceeds are going to the Jeannete Smit Old Age Home.
Saturday is jam-packed with some friendly competition and festivities all taking place at Glenwood High School. The City Trail Race – a fun trail run for groups taking place throughout the extended school grounds starting at 7,30am. Be sure to grease your wheels and support your favourite team as the Cart Race takes place at 9am. Throughout the day there is a primary school chess competition,a literary quiz competition, performances by the Durban Girls’ High Schools drummies and the Glenwood school band, mini cricket and a dance exhibition that will be displaying an array of dances including Latin American, Pantsula, Contemporary to end off the day.
There will also be food stalls and an arts, craft and flea market provided by Camelot throughout the morning.
Sunday starts with a community picnic in Bulwer Park from 11am. Entry is free and all are welcome to come along with a picnic, blanket and the whole family. The festival closes with an interdenominational community church service that takes place at 6pm at the Glenwood Community Church.
