Shot Bru! Bronze medal for Tyrone
Durban golden boy, paralympian Tyrone Pillay has done it for the City with a bronze medal for shot put this afternoon.
DURBAN’S paralympic hopeful has done both the City and the country proud with his bronze medal for shot put at the Paralympics in Rio this afternoon.
Tyrone’s medal came in the final when he threw 13.91m, a new SA record and African record. He certainly is one proud and elated athlete who has worked consistently and endeavored to show both able and physically challenged youngsters that anyone can follow their dream.
Tyrone says he doesn’t participate for “medals, money or fame” “I do it to inspire and motivate able and disabled people to work hard at everything you do. You need to give it your all whether its career sport or even social sport.”
Before jetting off to Rio, the Durban golden boy, told Berea Mail he is living the reality of a childhood dream to represent South Africa in the men’s shot put event and we know today he has once again exceeded his expectations.
Last night the athlete told Berea Mail he “can’t wait to go out there and give of his best.”
