Today marks the first day of the 2024 NSC exams as candidates are set to sit in for the English Paper 3 for the first session while some will sit in for the Afrikaans Paper 3 in the second session.
Thirona Moodley of Naptosa said they wish all candidates the best for the duration of the exam.
“It is now time for our learners to put the final touches on the months of preparation. The Provincial Education Department is well-prepared to administer the exams. All examination centres have been inspected and markers have been selected.
“NAPTOSA monitors will be visiting exam centres for the duration of the exams. We caution learners and educators not to engage in any copying as the consequences are extremely serious for the educator and the learner,” she said.

KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka will be joined by Premier Thami Ntuli to monitor a writing centre in the province. The visit is part of a broader initiative to ensure the smooth execution of exams and maintain the integrity and credibility of the process across the province.
The visit comes after the Department of Education hosted the symbolic signing of the pledge and the prayer ceremony. During the ceremony, MEC Hlomuka warned candidates to resist the temptation to plagiarise but to act ethically and not jeopardise the credibility of the exams.
A total of 172 433 full-time and 34 986 part-time candidates are set to sit in for the NSC final examinations.
