EDITOR – In response to the letter about Davenport Checkers in last week’s paper, a couple of weeks ago I also had my purse taken out of my bag at Checkers Davenport, the manager did not seem to care, probably hears this story everyday from his customers.
I overheard him saying it was the second one that day and they have one in store detective.
Since this incident I have spoken to several shopkeepers in the centre who say it happens all the time in Checkers – so why are they not doing something about it? One would expect CCTV to be installed as a matter of urgency, also use the loudspeaker system to warn customers to watch their bags.
Having to replace my cards that were in my purse takes time and especially irritating is having to sit in long queues waiting to take the driving license all over again.
