EDITOR – This is an untenable and recurring problem. Each time, paying consumers have to stand or wait in endless long queues to pay or connect their electricity at Jeff Taylor Road. We are NOT sinners but paying our bills and have to wait for about two hours, and be served by only two staff, while 5 cubicles are empty with no staff.
I complained and asked for assistance as I cannot stand for long due to excruciating pain from my cancer, but the woman at the front reception counter just walked away after giving me a blank look. So much for respect for consumers who are aged or people with disabilities.
So paying consumers must take a day off and also carry their lunch box just to pay or connect electricity, while non-payers are siphoning electricity carte blanche and the Metro Council turning a blind eye. I wrote to the City Manager, The Mayor and the Head of Electricity. It is now three weeks and NO reply from anyone from the eThekwini Municipality.
No wonder service delivery is appalling in Durban Metro – no-one cares!
