THE KZN Ladies Invitational Ice Hockey Team won a silver medal at the inter-provincials in Cape Town coming second to Gauteng.

The club is a registered member of the KwaZulu-Natal Ice Hockey Association (KZNIHA) as well as the South African Ice Hockey Association (SAIHA).
Ice hockey is the fastest team sport in the world played on ice by almost two million players of all ages. It is built on skill, speed, discipline, teamwork, requires quick thinking and fast reactions along with the development of many special skills such as skating, passing, puck handling and shooting.
Speed and competitiveness combined with the novelty of playing a sport that is different provides an alternative sporting exhilaration that some adults may look for.
Ice hockey is one of the fastest growing women’s sports in the world, with the number of participants increasing 350 per cent in the last 10 years. Ice hockey is an extremely fast contact sport so protective equipment is mandatory. While ice hockey may not be as popular as rugby, soccer and baseball, it’s every bit as exciting.
The benefits for children are numerous such as learning skills that enhance their agility, strength and co-ordination, develop self-confidence, self-esteem, sportsmanship and teamwork skills. Children have fun in a positive, healthy and safe environment.
Developmental practice for beginners, under the watchful eye of an accredited SA Ice Hockey Association (SAIHA) coach, is currently available every Sunday morning from 8.30am to 9.30am during KZN school terms only.
