Rub shoulders with the Sharks at trail adventure event

Former Sharks and Springbok rugby player Jeremy Thomson is geared up for the Stihl Sharks Trail Adventure which takes place at Summerveld Estate in Shongweni.

NOT wanting to miss the mountain biking action and an opportunity to rub shoulders with the current custodians of the colours he wore so proudly some years ago, former Sharks and Springbok rugby player Jeremy Thomson has added his name to the entry list for the 2013 Stihl Sharks Trail Adventure taking place on Sunday 8 December.

The day, which features a variety of mountain biking and trail running events, a unique staging of the popular Shongweni Farmers’ Market, and the presence of members of The Sharks squad is one that Thomson remembers fondly after being a part of the inaugural edition in 2012.

“Last year there was just such a fantastic family vibe to the whole event, everyone I bumped into afterwards was just so complimentary of the whole day and the market and live music really helped create such a great atmosphere. It really was awesome to be a part of!” said Thomson.

“From a racing point of view it was great too. It had rained in the days before the race but on the day it was dry and, in my opinion, it really was a great outing and I’m sure this year will be exactly the same if not even better,” he added.

The former Sharks and Springbok centre is now an avid mountain biker and barely a weekend goes by without at least some time being spent in the saddle on the nearest trails.

Having been there previously himself, Thomson is also looking forward to being able to rub shoulders with some of the current crop of players who wear the black and white on a weekly basis at this year’s event and hopes the public will take full advantage of the rare opportunity as well.

“It’s great to be able to meet and spend some time with some of the current Sharks players, especially outside a rugby context.
