Exhibit features surf legends

The exhibition "Surfing Rocks" is a celebration of surfing legends, rock n’ roll legends and the sea.

THE exhibition Surfing Rocks by Caroline Wood and Zafer Hosny opened on 21 May at artSPACE durban, and will run until 4pm on Thursday, 26 May.

The exhibition is based around Durban surfers and rock n’ roll icons. It is a celebration of surfing legends, rock n’ roll legends and the sea.

Zafer Hosny is a budding photographer who is also a pilot who flies out of Virginia Airport in Durban.

Caroline Wood was born in Kingston, Surrey, UK, and as a child travelled from country to country with her family and always had her pens and paper with her.

“From as far back as I can remember I had a passion for street art, comic books and music. Over the years I have been developing my techniques which have brought me to where I am today as an independent artist,” she said.

She has worked as a professional artist since 2002 creating various different styles and mediums. In 2003 she began working for Tivoli Art where she developed a style of canvas painting which was largely rooted in her love for urban art, black and white film and music. In 2005 she worked as an independent freelance artist, offering a wall mural service, portraits, logo designs and tattoo designs. Her new passion is painting up surfboards and car bodies.

artSPACE durban is at 3 Millar Road (off Umgeni Road), Durban.

Gallery hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm. Closed on Sunday and public holidays.
