Acoustic vibes at Music at the Lake

Another beautiful Sunday in Durban with Freshlyground, Majozi and Louise Carver for an afternoon of folksy acoustic music.

SUNSHINE, picnics and some of South Africa’s best acoustic music set the scene at the Old Mutual Music at the Lake Folk Fest concert on Sunday, as locals spent the afternoon with the award-winning Louise Carver, Majozi and Freshlyground.

Louise Carver opened the show with a series of her well-known classics, then Durban’s Majozi treated fans to a slick acoustic set, complete with ukulele. Freshlyground brought their energetic flair as the unmistakable voice of lead singer Zolani Mahola, coupled with bursts of instrumental melodies and lively ululating, got fans to their feet. And in an emotional tribute to the late, great Johnny Clegg, the band performed a soulful rendition of the “asimbonanga”.

For the next concert, Old Mutual Music at the Lake, together with East Coast Radio will present Jeremy Loops and Bad Peter on Sunday, 29 September. Tickets are available via www.webtickets.co.za.
