Swiss ensemble performs at UKZN

Le Rex is a new millennium jazz brass band infused with indie rock energy and attitude.

THE Centre for Jazz and Popular Music presents renegade Swiss ensemble Le Rex on Wednesday, 9 October at 6pm.

Le Rex reinvents brass groove music, and their album Escape of the Fire Ants showcases the band as a new millennium jazz brass band infused with indie rock energy and attitude.

The band features German-born alto saxophonist Benedikt Reising, tenor saxophonist Marc Stucki, trombonist Andreas Tschopp, tuba player extraordinaire Marc Unternährer, and drummer Rico Baumann.

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is at University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College, Level 2, Denis Shepstone Building. Doors open at 5.30pm, and the music starts at 6pm. Entrance is R80 for adults, R50 for pensioners and R25 for students.
