
Sergeant Lufuno Mudzuli proudly represented the Reiger Park police at the SAPS 10th National Excellence Awards held on January 26 at the Durban International Convention Centre in KwaZulu-Natal.
Mudzuli was recognised as a second runner-up in the Vispol and operations category, highlighting his exceptional contributions to policing.
The National Excellence Awards aim to honour the dedication of police officers who have excelled in their duties throughout 2024.
This year’s event showcased over 40 award categories, including operational member of the year, detective service member of the year, and woman of the year.

The awards served to foster innovation and a culture of excellence within SAPS, ensuring that all members continue to provide professional services to their communities.
Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu, along with deputy ministers Cassel Mathale and Polly Boshielo, and National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, attended the prestigious ceremony.
Mchunu delivered a keynote address commending all nominees and winners for their unwavering commitment to serving South Africa with integrity.
He emphasised that the citizens of this country rely on us to uphold law and order.

He urged continued dedication and teamwork within the force.
Mudzuli expressed his excitement at being a national finalist after winning accolades at both district and provincial levels.
“I am honoured to represent Gauteng at this prestigious event. It was a mix of happiness and nerves,” he stated.
As a manager overseeing two sectors, he collaborates closely with community members, including Blue Patrollers and volunteers, in efforts to combat crime.
The awards ceremony not only recognised individual achievements but also highlighted the collective efforts of SAPS members who strive for excellence amid challenges.
Mchunu encouraged all officers to maintain high standards of professionalism and selflessness, reinforcing the vital role they play in ensuring community safety.
