The family of 38-year-old Gloria Mancam says it has found some closure after her former boyfriend, Xolani Dlamini (37), was recently convicted of murder and robbery nearly five years after her death.
Mancam died on September 4, 2020, after an argument with Dlamini turned violent.
Dlamini was sentenced in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court to 15 years for murder and 15 years for robbery.
The spokesperson of the Dawn Park Police Station, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, explained: “On the night of the incident, an argument erupted between the two while they were drinking at his home in Dawn Park.
Dlamini strangled Mancam and abandoned her body in an open veld in Mapleton plots. He fled using her car.”
Mabula said that during the investigation, detectives discovered Mancam’s car was missing from her property.
“The police circulated the vehicle as stolen and traced it to KwaZulu-Natal, where Dlamini was arrested while in possession of it.”
Mabula commended Detective Sergeant Phelelani Mhlongo, who led the investigation, for his persistence and thorough work that ensured the conviction.
