A tip-off led to a significant drug seizure on October 10, when members of the Gauteng Traffic Wardens Germiston Cluster Saturation Task Team and Reiger Park police crime intelligence intercepted a vehicle reportedly transporting illicit substances in Ramaphosa.

According to Constable Johannes Msimanga, spokesperson for Reiger Park SAPS, officers received information about a car involved in drug trafficking.

During a search of both the individual and the car, authorities discovered a substantial quantity of drugs and cash. “A total of 456 illicit items were seized, including 232 small bags of crystal meth, 72 full Mandrax tablets, 30 half Mandrax tablets, and 131 CAT tablets.

Msimanga said the driver is in custody and further investigations are underway. He emphasised that the collaboration between multiple law enforcement units played a critical role in the operation’s success
“Operations like this show our commitment to keeping harmful substances off the streets and ensuring community safety,” Msimanga added.

The police urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities, assuring that tip-offs are treated with confidentiality and acted upon swiftly.
“Community vigilance is vital. Information from the public often enables us to intervene before drugs reach vulnerable individuals,” he said.
