‘The Kid’ gearing up for contender fight
Oosthuizen will be back in the hexagon in March.
Beyers Park EFC fighter Billy ‘The Kid’ Oosthuizen is determined to prove himself in the cage and take that next step towards championship glory.
The Kid will go head-to-head against Ayanda ‘The Power’ Zwane on March 6 in an EFC 121 featherweight bout for the number contender spot at the Performance Institute.
A victory would propel him into a title fight.
Oosthuizen has been eyeing the championship belt since last year and his journey has been marked by hard work.
The 30-year-old was impressive last year, especially after defeating Rian ‘The Mountain Lion’ Dunn via TKO (strikes) 02:24 into the first round in the EFC 118 featherweight bout at the Performance Institute.
Ahead of the fight, Billy shared that his preparation for the contender is progressing just as planned.
“Everything is going well. I’m sticking to the game plan, staying disciplined, and my camp is running smoothly,” said Oosthuizen, whose record is 8-6-0.
His message to his opponent: “Let’s go.”

I started boxing as a child because most of my family members were boxers; so it was a tradition for us.
How did you transition into MMA?
I transitioned to MMA because I didn’t want to follow in the shadows of my family, as some of them are well-known boxers. What achievement stands out for you? I have a pro licence in Muay Thai and MMA, which is awesome for me to have both.

My dad is my hero because he always pushed me to be better and supported me in whatever I wanted to do, helping me to take it to the next level.
What does it mean for you to fight in the EFC?
EFC is the biggest promotion in Africa, and it means a lot to me. It is everything right now for taking my career to the next level.
